This was a fun project. When I was in college there was a comedian that did mock movie trailer skits with a deep voice. My room mates would have fun with it.
I decided to do something similar for my audiobook trailer. I took excerpts of the audio from the audiobook and wrote the movie trailer narration around it. Then I filmed myself miming the audiobook narration first. When I added that in I copied the deep voice one too many times and I couldn’t help laughing.
So I put that into the video and filmed myself repeating the title 3 times in a row at the end, as if competing with the British accent. I filmed myself miming that one too in order to show that I was the one who did it, and because it didn’t take away but maybe added to the humor. I had fun editing it too. The footage was from B-roll I found.

An unexpected hero
The entire ball threatened with destruction
When a dapper Mr. Mosquito arrives at the insect ball hosted by the Queen Bee,
he joins all the elegantly attired guests in having a splendid time. Suddenly a big-
footed intruder – GASP! A BEAR! – threatens to stomp out all the six-legged fun.
Dare Mr. Mosquito go to the rescue? Might he have a special talent that will make
him a hero?
Andrew Thiriot’s masterful reading of this children’s book will have you chuckling
and cheering for Mr. Mosquito. And as for that pesky question – Will the
festivities go on? – be bugged no more. A royally good answer awaits.
The original book was the recipient 2010 Juvenile Literary Award presented by the Friends of American Writers.
