A vibrant beat driven, yet melodic feel. Solo and chorus voices jump out from the safari surroundings.
Marimba, drums, and tribal chorus mixed with the faint sounds of nature and animals bring life to the adventure.
Somewhere across the plains, through the jungles and into the mountains of Africa a melodic rhythm sounds.
The marimba, a tuned percussive instrument, that many scholars trace to Africa is used in conjunction with other beats.
You can feel without seeing.
You know where you are.
The marimba is widely believed to have originated in Africa. The word marimba originates from Bantu languages meaning in effect “many flat sticks or keys”. Many variations exist for marimba in Bantu languages, which includes areas of central and southern Africa. Marimba was one of the earliest of melodic instruments. Some believe the instrument originated in Asia, though it is not impossible that it could have been developed in both areas. African slaves brought it to Central and South America where it continued to be an important percussive and melodic instrument.*
