Return to a forgotten Land of Dragons and Emperors. Magic oozes from the bow and erhu – sometimes called the Chinese violin. This is just one of a myriad of bowed stringed instruments (the huquin family) that criss-crossed Asia for centuries. This violin had only 2 strings. Although bows began as resined sticks (the resin helped to provide some friction), the invention of horse hair bows spread across the plains and mountains of Asia like wild horses. And now the music can be heard even farther.
